Jolly Roger sailed from Taiwan in 1984. She crusied the Pacific and Atlantic waters and found a resting place in Florida. She sat in Florida for thee years and was purchased by Dieter Hinrichsen. Dieter sailed Jolly Roger to Panama, had her registared in Panama where he sailed her extensively until 2002 when he found himself at the Pedro Miguel Boat Club with a wife and child on the way.
His family lived aboard at the boat club for three years and once agian the Jolly Roger was at rest.
In 2005, Capt Dave saw her for sale and flew down to Panama and realized he had found the boat he always wanted. After many many emails a few trips to Pamama and phone calls with brokers, lawyers, USCG, Panama officials, loan officers, and insurance companies, Jolly Roger was free to leave her berth on the canal and head back to open water.
In early 2006 Capt Dave and crew sailed her up the coast of Central America and moored her in El Salvador where Santos the enterprising boat guy completely redid the exterior teak including repair of the rub rail damaged at the Panama fuel dock and the bow sprit damage off the coast of Costa Rica when the Papagayo winds claimed the anchor and 250' of 3/8" chain.
Jolly Roger is once again ready to sail with new Radar, SSB radio, Depth sounder, GPS, water maker, and totaly rebuilt engine and transmission. She looks forward to being in the open ocean once again!
